Thank you Jared Patchin @ J.A Woodworking in Nampa, ID for your nice write up on our in-drawer power outlet solutions and visiting with us at IWF. Below is an excerpt and you can read his full IWF 2014 two part recap on his blog.
One of the drawbacks to the number of electronic devices in our lives is that we are drowning in charging equipment. Power cords and USB hubs are everywhere! An elegant solution seen at the show is the Docking Drawer, a charging station mounted in the back of the drawer and hard wired in the back of the cabinet box. Prior to seeing the Docking Drawer, the only solution that I had worked up was to mount a surge protector in the drawer and drop the cord over the back and down into the base cabinet to the nearest outlet. The Docking Drawer uses and articulating arm that expands and contracts as the drawer opens and closes, eliminating the hanging cord behind the drawer box. There are several models available that can be either hard wired by an electrician, or plugged into the nearest outlet.
Stay up to date with what's new at Docking Drawer.
