How to Install a Docking Drawer Blade Outlet in a Narrow (8"–12" Wide) Drawer

Powering a narrow drawer comes down to width. For most narrow drawers, we recommend the 15 amp Blade Compact Vanity Outlet (or the 20 amp configuration)—its slimmer cable management arms require fewer modifications, and it fits drawers just over 11" wide with no modifications required at all. For tighter drawers, our narrow drawer installation technique adds a side channel so the outlet still fits.

Find your drawer width below:

  • 8" wide: If your drawer is more than 13" tall, install a standard Blade outlet mounted vertically. We recommend the Blade 1514-160.
  • 9"–11" wide: Install our Compact Vanity Outlet (15 amp or 20 amp) and apply our narrow drawer installation technique, which adds a side channel to make room for the outlet.
  • 11.25" to 12" wide: The Compact Vanity Outlet (15 amp or 20 amp) installs with no modifications at all. Because the outlet itself is 11.25" wide, the drawer needs to measure just over 11" for a seamless fit.
