What are the Prado Unifit installation options?
To help you achieve the perfect visual integrity for your project, here are the detailed installation and electrical configuration options for the Prado Unifit series.
Mounting Options
The Prado series is designed to easily camouflage power into your surface material. Choose your mounting style based on your material and desired finish:
Flush Mount
- The outlet sits perfectly level with the surface.
- This requires rigid materials like stone, tile, or wood where a precise counterbore can be routed. Note: This method is not applicable for drywall.
- Pro Tip: To easily achieve a perfect flush finish in stone or wood, we recommend using the Docking Drawer Counterbore Bit.

Surface Mount
- The outlet sits slightly above the surface.
- This is the ideal solution for drywall installations or projects where a precision counterbore is unavailable.

Subtle Trim Ring Finish
You can opt for a metallic trim ring finish to provide a clean border around the outlet, ensuring a polished look regardless of the mounting depth.
Electrical Configurations
We offer flexible wiring options depending on whether you are working on a permanent structure or a piece of furniture:
Hardwired
The default recommendation for all construction projects such as kitchen backsplashes.
- Using Self-Contained Junction Box Cap: Utilize the included self-contained cap for a streamlined, compact installation footprint.
- With Back Box: Uses a standard back box and junction box cover plate for traditional Romex wiring.
Corded (Plug-In)
Specifically designed for furniture applications such as sofas, end tables, or desks.
- Constraint: These must never be installed inside a permanent wall structure.
Safety Constraints
- Vertical Surfaces Only: Prado outlets must be installed on vertical surfaces like backsplashes or cabinet sides. Never install Prado outlets face-up on horizontal surfaces.
