How to Install a Docking Drawer Blade Outlet into a 12" Wide Drawer

First: Identify Your Blade Outlet

While any Blade outlet can be installed into drawers as narrow as 9”, we recommend purchasing our 15 amp Blade Compact Vanity Outlet (or the 20 amp configuration), which can be installed into a 12” wide drawer with no drawer modifications required. If you have already purchased a standard Blade Series outlet–featuring 13” wide arms– please reference and follow the installation directions in this article to install your standard Blade outlet into a 12” wide drawer.

Installing Your Compact Vanity Outlet

The following instructions are specific to the installation of our Compact Vanity Outlet into a 12” wide drawer:

Step 1: Ensure you have a power outlet located at the back of your cabinet wall.

If you do not have power inside the cabinet, you’ll want to run a new outlet for power before getting started. If installing into a furniture drawer, ensure there is an outlet within reach of your Docking Drawer to connect power.

Step 2: Unbox your Docking Drawer

Step 3: Remove the installation instructions and cutout templates to reference and use during installation.

Step 4: Gather your tools. You will need:

• Oscillating Multi-Tool or Jigsaw
• Drill with Drill Bits
• Screwdriver
• Measuring Tape
• Pencil

Step 5: Adhere the cutout templates at the back of your drawer box

Step 6: Drill 4 holes at the corner of your cutout template, where instructed

Step 7: Follow your cutout template to cut a hole in the back of the drawer box

Step 8: Re-insert your drawer box.

Step 9: Insert your Docking Drawer outlet.

Step 10: Attach the mounting brackets to the back of the cabinet wall.

• Be sure to properly level and center the cable management arms during this step, as it’s critical for maintaining proper drawer functionality.

Step 11: Ensure smooth movement of the drawer.

• If the drawer isn’t functioning properly, revisit previous step to ensure the cable management arms are properly leveled and centered.

Step 12: Attach the outlet cover plate.

Step 13: Plug your outlet into the power source at the back of the cabinet wall
